The Unexpected

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

One day we will look back at our lives and reflect on what we have accomplished and be proud of that list. There's another list we will look at and not be so proud. The list of what ifs and I wish I would have tried it. When you think of that moment what list do you hope is longer? The accomplishment list right?! I personally have to really contemplate this whenever I am faced with a scary decision.

When I reflected on the fragility of life; It makes rolling with the punches a bit easier. It also put my dreams and goals at the forefront. As a mom we wear so many hats and hold many responsibilities. It is hard to choose yourself sometimes. What if we flip that thinking? Because we hold so many responsibilities I HAVE TO CHOOSE ME. If you are full of regret, and untapped potential it starts to seep out of your pores. It won't be easy. It will be hard. In those difficult moments think about your why. Think about why you have to choose yourself.

How about another analogy, when you travel by airplane there's always a directive given before takeoff. "In the event of an emergency, place your oxygen mask on first before assisting others." You know why it's imperative you put your mask on first? You could pass out while helping others. Now those people don't get help and you don't either. I promise you, your goals and family can coexist peacefully. You can work on you and support your family at the same time.

I'm rooting for you. How are you choosing yourself this year?
